What Are Chrome Wheels?

Today, customized wheels are more popular than ever. People are increasingly choosing to either add new wheels to their car, or add the option from the beginning at the dealership. Of these customization options, chrome wheels are some of the most distinctive and popular. These kinds of wheels are mostly seen on cars, though they are sometimes also seen on trucks, sport utility vehicles and motorcycles.

It’s worth taking some space to distinguish between wheels and rims, as sometimes the difference is confusing. Basically, wheels and rims refer to the same thing; namely, the part of the car onto which the tire is placed. They have the same function, and are located on the same part of the car. Mainly, “rims” is a slang term that refers to more stylish wheels on a car-it is typically used to describe custom wheels that are purchased as an afterthought, rather than the factory-made wheels the car comes with.

About Alloy Wheels

Alloy wheels identify wheels which have been cast from an aluminum mixture. Aluminum is proffered because it is light and is good at heat dissipation. Additionally, aluminum alloys are made of fewer amounts of rigid metals which make the mixture more rigid and helpful in the propagation of the cracks. In the past, manufacturers fitted steel wheels to most cars; they chose steel because of its resilience to damage and they are much cheaper option wheels. The light weight of the steel wheel bestows the car with an improved speed and steering advantage. However, it should be noted that there are certain alloy wheels which may be heavier than the steel wheel of the same size.

Since alloy wheels are better at the conduction of heat, they boost heat dissipation that is coming from the brakes and this in turn minimizes the likelihood of break failure occurring especially in conditions that are very demanding. In passenger vehicles the alloy wheels do more than just give an edge in driving performance, they also serve a cosmetic purpose. The alloy wheel boasts of its intricate and shiny design and this therefore means that it does not require wheel covers or paint to improve its look. Steel wheel on the other hand needs to be painted or be covered with wheel covers made of plastic .In addition, the steel wheels are found in standardized sizes and this translates into a healthy completion amongst tyre vendors in such a way as to make the steel tyres cheaper and more available. The car’s reduction of weight when the alloy wheels are used means that there is also a reduction in the rotating mass on the end of the suspension components bringing about the steering ability and an improved breaking response.

Audi – Stronger Wheels

Audi increased its popularity in the automobile market because of its high class technology outfitted in its wide range of passenger vehicles. Audi wheels are one of auto parts manufactured by Audi with superior standards of quality and reliability that assure superior performance. These are specifically designed to resist load caused by braking, turning and acceleration and have become a popular culture because of its light weight and more attractive hubcaps. These are made with magnesium or aluminum alloy to improve the performance and to reduce weight and differ from normal steel wheels because the aluminum alloy is a better heat conductor. The heat dissipation caused by the brakes is improved such that it prevents brake failure under difficult driving situations. Although they are expensive, these are ideal for people looking for light weight and larger wheels that are pleasant to look and exceptionally luxurious.

Audi wheels are designed as a single piece or two or three piece type of wheels. The single piece wheels are molded whereas the two piece and the three piece wheels are welded or bolted together with top quality fasteners. Cleaning these wheels is very important as the brakes produce heat resulting in brake dust or dirt getting coated in the wheels. Refinish is the only solution to remove this coating. Keeping the high cost of the wheels in mind, it only makes sense to preserve the wheels by cleaning it periodically.
